Proposal would reduce traffic and improve infrastructure
SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Campbell) issued the following statement regarding ongoing efforts by the Legislature and Governor Jerry Brown to increase revenue to fund our state’s infrastructure system:
“I support Governor Brown’s comprehensive proposal to improve our state’s aging infrastructure. The proposal will bring in about $3.6 billion annually, dollars that are desperately needed to upgrade and maintain our roads and highways for California’s future. In Silicon Valley, these dollars would help mitigate congestion in the Highway 85, 101 and 280 corridors, significant arteries that bring business in and out of the region on a daily basis. I commend my colleague Senator Jim Beall for his leadership and work during these negotiations. I look forward to the continued negotiations during the upcoming conference committee.”
While the Legislature will adjourn this afternoon for the current legislative session, the special session is not subject to the same deadline. During the Interim Study Recess, a joint conference committee will convene to negotiate a final plan.
