Low Introduces Opioid Crisis Legislative Measures

(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Evan Low (D-San Jose) has introduced a package of legislation to fight the opioid crisis roaring through California and the Nation. “The Opioid Crisis has destroyed lives and devastated families. In 2016 alone, families in our State lost nearly 2,000 loved ones to opioids,” Low said. The three bills in the package target multiple stages in the crisis: The first bill connects California’s prescription drug monitoring database, known as cures, with other states. The second adds schedule five drugs to cures and the third tightens regulation of doctor’s prescription pads in order to limit their abuse. “Every day, the opioid crisis claims 91 American lives. The time to do something about it is now” Low concluded. To learn more about the legislative package on the Opioid Crisis, please watch this Assembly Access video. http://www.asmdc.org/low
