ASSEMBLYMEMBER EVAN LOW HONORS ANNE KEPNER AT WOMAN OF THE YEAR CELEBRATION

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — On Monday, March 20, Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley) will recognize Anne Kepner, West Valley-Mission Community College District Board Member, at the Woman of the Year celebration at the state capitol.

Every year in March, the California Legislative Women’s Caucus celebrates Women’s History Month by having each member recognize one remarkable woman in their district.

Anne Kepner was first elected to serve on the Board of Trustees in 2014 and represents Area 3 of the District. Since being elected, Anne has served in various leadership roles on the board. She currently serves as President (Chair) of the Mission-West Valley Land Corporation Investment Committee, is a member of the Audit Budget and Oversight Committee, and the Legislative and Policy Oversight Committee.

Kepner is an attorney and partner in a small boutique law firm San Jose. She has litigated civil matters for more than 25 years and also works as a private mediator. She has been volunteering in the community for decades, serving on various non-profit boards, teaching continuing education classes, and serving for 8 years on the Housing Loan and Rehabilitation Committee for the City of Santa Clara. Currently she is serving as the President of the Santa Clara High School PTSA and Chair of the Mission City Community Fund.

Kepner is a product of the California public school system; she attended public schools from kindergarten through law school. She studied at UC Irvine, De Anza Community College, San Jose State University, and UC Hastings College of the Law. Ensuring access to a quality education is Anne’s top priority. Kepner resides in Santa Clara with her husband and three children.

Women’s History Month was established by Congress in the 1980s to acknowledge that the significant contributions women have made to every field of American life were largely undocumented and unknown.
