SANTA CLARA COUNTY— Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley) honored West Valley Community Services (WVCS) as Assembly District 28’s Nonprofit of the Year this week. The nonprofit organization was founded in 1973 and has served the west valley region of Santa Clara County ever since.
“Over the past 45 years, WVCS has provided a continuum of basic needs, including information and referrals, food pantry, transitional housing, affordable housing, financial assistance, family support, and case management services,” said Assemblymember Evan Low.
In the West Valley, there are 22,000 people living in poverty. West Valley Community Services has a mission to “unite the community to fight hunger and homelessness,” with their five core values of compassion, dignity, integrity, service, and diversity. Their programs, which include food pantry, rapid rehousing assistance, educational programs, and more, are all free of charge to low income and homeless families in the community.
West Valley Community Services Executive Director Josh Selo said, “We are honored and proud to share this incredible recognition with our compassionate community of donors, volunteers, and partners. Assemblymember Low has long been a champion of the needs of our community’s most vulnerable residents, and we are so grateful for his support in the fight against hunger and homelessness in the west valley.”
