SACRAMENTO—California State Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley) issued the following statement in response to the executive order President Trump signed today to reform the H-1B visa program.
“America is a nation of immigrants. We thrive when the best and the brightest from around the world have the opportunity to bring their expertise to our country. In fact, immigrants or the children of immigrants have started more than 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies, which employ more than 10 million people. Preventing highly skilled and talented individuals from working in our country could stifle the innovation and talent that makes America great.”
Assemblymember Low represents Assembly District 28, which is located in Silicon Valley and includes Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, and the areas of West San Jose, Willow Glen, Cambrian, and Almaden Valley in San Jose.
